Light is the fastest of all and travels in a straight line. Do you know why? here's the answer- Fermat's principle of least time.
Fermat's principle of least time says that light is always in a hurry! it takes the quickest path despite the shortest. The shortest path is not always the quickest. If you have taken the shortest path to go to your favorite place but there is a lot of traffic so it doesn't come out to be the shortest. In a single medium the pathway is always a straight line but when traveling from one medium to another the fastest pathway is not a straight line.
